Since the picture taking has been done in both the builds, and at So-Cal Speedway, I will dispense with that part of the review, and get down to some overall thoughts on theses bad boys. These are in no particular order.
1. HRW 40 Ford Sedan. The crying shame of the race. This car has been here before for the sedan showdown last fall, and was , and still is, a very fun car to drive. Harry can build a car! The body was damaged so bad, that it is being sent back home for repair. If mine would run and handle half this good , i would be pleased to say the least.
2.Shotguns Roadster pick-up. If there was a modeling trophy for this race, he would get it hands down. Great driving car as well. long wheelbase makes it easy to drift, and plenty of power.
3. Retro's 34. Very smooth , fast car. another easy driver, it loved my track in most all lanes.
4. Retro's 40 Coupe. Probably my favorite car to drive. It really handled well, and was one of the most balanced as far as Power to weight ratio. it would be right at home with my home track cars.
5. Strangebrew white car. Both of Brew's cars were reminiscent of the old commercial track cars of the 60's and 70's, lots of fun to drive, and a lot of scratch building going on here! right down to the tires. very cool car.
6.Brews yellow car, Almost want to say "see above" but with just a hint of different character. very easy to drive, and another looker as well.
7. Tusco Todds Pick-up. Best paint award to me. beautiful little car, and well executed construction. WAY over powered for my track, but very fun none the less. would be an awesome drag machine. does not like to turn left much!
8. Lufs Willy's. Beautiful car, I would love to have a 1;1 version of this one. Perfect stance, looks the business too! very smooth runner, and was like Keiths 40 Coupe. an easy handler.
10. Slottherapist's, Roadster pickup. Another very cool build, Looks like some of the real life stuff we all seen built as young hot rodders for the real world. Another slot that was very over powered. If it would ever hook up, it would out run about anything on the track, And was near impossible to de-slot. I like it a lot.
9. Btaylor 34 Coupe, Last minute stand in for my DNF Car. It runs well on my track because it was built to, it probably wont be much elsewhere! It very easy to drive, and is a drifter in the corners. Yes, I like it too.
Overall thoughts on this race. At first i thought it was crazy not having any motor restrictions in a proxy, then, after running them in the qualifying, I found them to be very equal in overall times? A strange happening for the varied power in these cars, but it did happen. Slower under powered cars did well in the corners, whereas the speed demons could make it up on the straights. Having actually pitted them against each other in the bracket race, it really showed just how different they all were, and where their individual strengths were. This was FUN! and that is what slot racing is all about.
I thank you all for the opportunity to race these cars, and everyone should be very proud of what they have built. I will be boxing and shipping them to Todd this week. I am still making repairs to One, and then off they go!
