'40 Ford Coupe Barn Find Build

Decided to go with the larger radiator.. filled the space better..




Chassis is aged and body mounts are done..




Here's everything in place.. still have to put the slot drivetrain in and add a couple more small touches,
but this is basically what it'll look like..

Why oh why didn't I test the motor prior to installing it?? LOL..

The M/T-1 is dead as a doornail. Spins freely by hand, but does nothing when power is applied to the terminals.
Thankfully, I added superglue to the mount to make sure it stayed in place a long time :roll:

My Torino is on the slow boat to MO. and didn't make it there in time, now this motor doesn't run.. today is not a great slot day~
I'm going to order another M/T-1 and then go watch some more of the Rolex 24 and leave the slots alone till Monday.

Ya.. no biggie.. I ordered another one from Mark.. I needed some wheel inserts anyways :)

I am 100% certain you had no idea something was up with it..

I was light on the solder to attach the wires.. I just took the motor out of the chassis
and tried it again on the bench touching only the little tabs and it is unresposive..

I've got everything else on this car done so as soon as Mark sends the new motor it will
be fairly quick to get it on the track for testing.. Can't wait to build a couple running mates.
I love the look of these older cars, and the crusty and rusty treatment looks perfect on them.

Finally got the 'Coupe back together and tested this morning..

Added just a little bit more weathering, got the body mounted, hood in place and then pushed it out on to
pit road for a few final adjustments before turning some laps..











Prior to any tire sanding, it was a little loose.. Here's a few Slo Mo passes by the camera..





Once the tires were sanded and the motor had a hundred laps on it, the car is now a pretty good runner..




I'll put some more laps on it here, then ship it out to Dave~

Nice looking Jalopy. Looks real. What size tires & wheels did you use ?

Wheels are CBD steelies.. 15x7 front, 15x8 rear
Tires are Paul Gage 22083se front..
and I think the rears are Yellow Dogs I had around.. 1404's or 1405's.

Drove the car another hour this afternoon.. it's a blast.
Just as soon as more bodies arrive, I'm starting another one :mrgreen:
