Thanks, Jim, I'm very happy to hear that you like the car. I hope you can see from the photos the changes I had described. Thanks again to my buddy Frank from NY for posting them all for us to see. Guess that's another race car that I'll have to bring with me when I finally get down there to run with you, Harry, and friends!
I've also built a Henry J Gasser. I went down to the basement and pulled it out of the old Hoffman wooden slot box that I hide all my HO drag rigs in.
Just so I can give ya all the right 'specs'...
***Of course, I had to use the Dash Motorsports body with the chrome blower stickin' outta the hood, right?! It's that nice 'candy apple' gold paint that Dash was doing. I removed the grill and applied some flat black paint to the opening and mounting post, same as on the Modified "J". With the Modified, I had shortened the front post. In keeping with 'old school' Gasser tradition, I instead added about 3/32" to it. This thing's pointin' skyward BEFORE ya drop the pedal!
***'Under the hood', there's an original Aurora 'Tuff Ones' silver chassis and armature with a pair of A/FX 'Super ll' blue and yellow magnets. The gear plate and some of the gears have been drilled out. The drive pinion gear is the 14T 'Tuff Ones' type, with Wizzard carbon/composite motor brushes.
***Wheels up front are a pair of narrowed A/FX five spoke skinnys with O-rings on a 1/16" brass tube axle. Out back ride a pair of Aurora A/FX 'MagnaTraction' type rear stock car wheels on an A/FX axle. I repainted the wheels silver, and then mounted up a pair of the PVT oversize black silicone drag slicks. They're roughly 1/2" diameter by about 1/4" wide. A wheelie bar on the rear mounting screw completes the deal.
I'll be running this car (and many others from that old wooden box!) on the strip tonight at Tony's SMALL TORQUE MOTOR SPEEDWAY in Valley Stream, NY, here on Long Island. Lookin' forward to that! Thanks for your comments and interest.
Enjoy the weekend and have a Safe and Happy New Year !! -- Ernie
