I wanted to publicly thank Carrera again for their kindness in taking care of some kids that really needed some help. I was fortunate enough to get to tell Dave Kennedy this by phone last night as well.
To update everyone, the eldest son ended up back in the hospital the week we were supposed to deliver the gifts. Fortunately, he's doing much better and was able to come back home after a few days and the gifts were delivered right before Christmas. As we were not able to do this part ourselves by this time, I didn't get any pictures :(
My wife went back to work on Monday and had a teacher's workday to start the week. The family delivered a ton of fantastic Chinese food from their restaurant to feed all of the teachers and to say thank you for what they had done for their family. On Tuesday, the kids returned, and when the youngest son came, who is in my wife's class, his father wrapped my wife in a huge hug and was very moved to see her. That is a bit counter to their culture and he couldn't thank her enough.
When asked if he got any neat presents, the answer was Lego and a Race Track! The kids were floored over the track and really, really love it!
The best news is that their son is now doing fine and returned to school this week with his siblings. Very good stuff!
Again, my thanks to a great company - Carrera, for stepping up and helping out. I know you folks made one family's Christmas complete!
