The SoCal Speed Record Special

This car was given to me by the extremely talented Dave C. of Bensenville. He has built some fantastic models over the years and this one is just incredible.

How he does what he does? I'll let him chime in. All I know is he presented this to me as a gift and I was speechless (for a change)

It runs GREAT. Smooth and quiet as usual.

Dave, thank you doesn't cover it...but it's all I can say. I just look at this car and shake my head at your skills.

The body is a resin casting I made from rubber molds taken from a master that was scratch built. Since there
were many different sizes and shapes for aircraft belly tanks, I chose the one that most Bonneville racers used
for their cars. After WWII these tanks were being sold by the government as war surplus, and could be bought
for a few dollars. Some guys even used Allison or Roll-Royce aircraft engines, which were also cheap and plentiful.
The chassis of the slot car is made of sheet brass and rod. The FK size motor is turned on it's side to clear the frame
side rails.

Thanks for the kudos, guys. Sometimes I just get a little goofy and build something that has no
rhyme or reason. But I thought these would compliment the salt flats coupes I had done earlier.
