I am a fan of Scalextric cars as they usually run great right out of the box and once I remove the magnet and reshoe them with silicones, they have a long lasting life at my track.
Recently, I bought one of their Ford GT GTRs. A wheel on the the rear axle had been so poorly installed, that it was grossly off center and made the car a real pig to run. Though not part of the mechanicals, one of the mirrors had also broken away. An e-mail to Hornby and then Scalextric USA describing the situation got a promise of a replacement rear axle assembly. To my surprise, about a week later, an entire new car arrived as a replacement. Now that is service. Naturally, one of the hold downs for the front lights was broken, but it is nothing major.
I have to give kudos to Hornby for their service and really suggest that their factory in China do a better job of QA as the number of small glitches like this are on the rise.
