Tony “Jap” Membrino won back-to-back titles at the old Plainville Stadium in 1964 and 1965. Although he drove many cars during his career, he became known for two things — the color purple and his most famous car number, 00. This car/driver won 9 races in a row for a total of 12 in a single season.
