I've had good luck using DupliColor Automotive clear - but I ussually use DupliColor base...
But here is an example of a how the decals looked after applying the clear on the last one I did:

(shots of the completed job with two coats of clear are at the bottom of page one)
I haven't had any issues with "wrinkling" or "lift" - but I typically put one light coat on, then after letting that set-up, go over it with a heavy coat, using a can heated in hot water and it comes out glaaaaass smooth! :D
Good luck!

Oh - and I should have mentioned that I am using the Duplicolor out of a spray can - not via air brush / spray gun. (just in case there was any confusion)

In have had problems with the DupliColor clear attacking both decals and Testors enamel paint. Mixing different types of paint is a tricky business. I have had one side of a car turn out perfect and the other side get orange peeled. Lately I have been using Testors clear lacquer with good results, but I always coat decals with Future first. One problem is that the paint makers sometimes change their formulation to use a different combination of solvents. It is safer to do some test sprays on something that is expendable of you are using new paint.
