Harry, This looks like a labor of love! So, how did the chassis end up in such bad shape? Was it like that from the box (it is a Fly, after all) or had this car left the table a few times? The ways that you salvaged the chassis were inspiring. I would have looked at all of the cracks and began looking for a replacement chassis, but you've shown that you can make just about anything work.

I like how you took the time to list what new tuners would need. When I jumped in to tuning, I had no real idea what I was doing (not that I have one now!) and a list like that would have been very helpful.

The left front axle mount was molded like that from the factory. I have 4 of them that the left side is exactly like that.

Quick way to tell? Look at the front wheels and compare the distance between the tire and body. You will notice the left side is likely not centered.

So...drilling it and making a tighter independent system is a good idea. Except you are just setting the wheel wrong. The solid axle tubing system allows you to make sure your fronts are even and true.

On the cracking? Well it happens. On a lot of Fly models with stub axles, the biggest problem is that folks forget to lubricate it. The dry plastic combined with a loose fit will crack that small mount over time.
