Need to clear coat over water slide decals

Just finished putting decals on my Scale auto Porsche 911 gt3 rsr, used rustoleum paint for hood area leaving the white back part bare white plastic, what clear shoul I use to clear coat body?
Or should I try future floor finish?

A word of warning about Future - It works wonderfully well on colored surfaces, but my 2 white cars have a yellow tint to them.

I like Tamiya clear TS-13. Works very well for me. I use 2-3 very light misting coats at first allowing 15-20 minutes between each one, then wait at least 45 minutes to an hour before the final wet coat. Always comes out great, and it can be polished out. :)

MrAdept: If your Future turned yellow on your white cars it's probably been left exposed to the air while in the bottle or possibly cross contaminated with something on a paintbrush, etc. When I first started using Future I had that same problem, turned out I had left the top off the bottle for more than a day. The bottle I have now is more than 2 years old and still comes out clear but I am careful to keep the bottle sealed up and in a cool, dark place (kind of like beer).

Yeah, it's pledge with future shine. I really like the way it looks and seems to hold up well.

I found mine at Walmart of all places.

i have been using minwax spray polyurethane and it works great. cant beat the shine, even on glass and chrome, no dulling or yellowing effects.

I often use Future, but I have found that it is not very good for protecting decals. When I just put a few coats of Future over decals they got rubbed off rather easily. Some types of clear coat can attack decals. Future is water based so it can be used as a barrier coat between the decals and a more durable finish. Be aware that if you brush Future on ink jet printed decals they may get smudged. I have seen the problem with Future over some types of white paint. Future contains some ammonia (yes, I got it analyzed!) and that could be what causes the problem. I have been able to put Future over Testors white without any yellowing, but it would be best to do a test before you use it on a car. I always finish off my cars with a couple of coats of Future for extra shine. If the car starts to look dingy you can spruce it up with a fresh coat.

So just squirt it on and brush it smooth? I remember reading somewhere that they dipped the car and let it drip off?
Just squirted the vette and doesnt look too bad perhaps a 2nd coat? How long between coats ?

Everyone has their preference. I tried the dipping thing once but I made too much of a mess. I normally just put some in a container (paint can lid, etc) and just brush it on, working top to bottom. Then take the empty brush and go around under the rocker panels and so on wiping off the "drips". The nice thing about Future is that if you get overzealous it's usually self correcting.

airbrush is the best way that i have found i know everyone doesnt own one but i want to try the polyurethane spray i have saw mid america raceway use it on his hardbodys and it looks pretty good
