I used brass because my windshield frame is so delicate. It had to actually function as a roll cage. Its just soldered together to imitate the Carrera stockers.

Gorgeous. This one seems to have brought out the scale modelers, and that's a treat to see. I'm going to do a '59, too, but I'm not doing it for the proxy. What I want to do with that is going to be too fragile. The old Plymouth is ready to go, though.

Caught the bug and here's my second entry. I bought this model at a model show probably 4 years ago, it had a broken windshield frame, broke off the body and in two pieces, and no windshied (who in their right mind buys a model like that, only a slot car guy) I tried to sell it a couple of times, no go, and couldnt toss it. Lo and behold it has new life. I dug through my junkyard and found a windshield off an old 63 or so Corvette, worked just fine in my opinion. Chassis is stock Carrera 57 Chevy with an MT-1 and PG rears. A little testing and tuning and she should be fine.
