Ford Mustang Probe GTP

Just traded for this vintage Tamiya Tamtech 1/24 RC body.



Never heard of this line before but it seems ideal for a slot car conversion. The smoked windscreens are uniquely molded into the body. Looks like the BRM 956 chassis is spot on for wheelbase and width.

Will be a good runner for GVSCC's large scale class.

Tamtech cars and bodies are going for unbelievable amounts on the auction site.
The again, asking and getting are two different things.

That was one of my favorite IMSA GTP cars. Great kit!

I have the Tamtech Porsche 956, and it is converted to a slot car. Great bodies on these cars.

Body's mounted.









Chassis needed trimming at rear and front and a bit of filing on the sides. BRM Porsche 956 rims fill the wheel openings well. Stance worked out.

Chassis sides were drilled out to fit the body's mounting screw surrounds.



Fit's a bit tight but can be loosened later.

Tamiya white primer, Pure White and Blue were sprayed on. Unfortunately, many of the decals were quite brittle so that was an application challenge. Look's good enough for me.





Cloned chassis's equipped with:

Motor - NSR Shark 21k boxer
Gears - Slot It 9t pinion, Scalextric Sport 28t crown
Wheels/tires - BRM 956 front and rear/Paul Gage
Rear axle bearings - Scalextric Sport 3mm
Axles - Scalextric Sport 3mm front and rear
Guide - TSRF
Motor wire - Black Arrow

Runs well. Thought tight body mounting would hinder handling but not at all.



Nice addition to my larger scale stable.
