My attempt at Bobs resin 33 Chevy..

Postby turbokev » Sun Feb 08, 2015 3:56 pm

Bob sent me a couple great old bodies so I decided to start with the '33 Chevy..

After initial trimming and grinding away extra resin I had this..

Image

Then after another hour of grinding, filing and sanding I had come up with this as an end shape to work with..

Image

Started the chassis too.. going to try something a little different so I can try and get a full driver figure in this one..

Don't know how long this will drag out.. I don't have the quick turnaround our friend out in California has
That said, when I have an update, I'll add it here~

Absolutely :) Looking really good.

I spent part of the day doing the same. "Nothing like the smell of resin in the morning" :)

You ever have one of the moments of clarity where you realize the direction you've taken is the wrong one?

I had to laugh at myself this morning when I was looking at my chassis and my great 'inverted' idea.. My idea stunk LOL

SO, I fired up the torch and melted everything apart and started fresh.. I like where it's going now. Still not stellar,
but certainly much better than where it was headed before

Oh Man! look at that will ya! great looking chassis kev!
And yes, i have done the same thing just last week. built a nice looking chassis and even painted it, when i realized it was way to low to function. Not any more! Its stripped and reheated.
Nice work Kev, you are doing my bodies proud!

Rear body mounts / setting the rear ride height..

Added some nerf bars and cut them just long enough so that a couple holes in the body will
accept the bars with just a little pinch as you put the body in place. I reinforced the area as well.

Front will mount with one screw under the firewall area..

Think that'll be it for today.. more plowing to do

I don't have a drill press.. so making the guide mount is a struggle.
On this build I decided to try the D3D front carrier as a mount.. it was super easy to install
so we'll see how that works out. Interested to see how having the pivot point just behind
the axle instead of in front of it works out..

Here's where I'm at today.. Chassis finished and painted, body has the basic paint on it as well.

Still lots to do, but you can see it's starting to take shape~

I need to get an engine for it.. and some flat plastic stock for the interior and firewall.. Might take a
bit longer to finish this one~

Really liking that color Kev! The whole package is great. M/T Resins has the best engine castings for these, lots of choices!
I tried the motor thing, and didn't have great results.

The color combo rocks. It came out very nice. The chassis is sweet, keep us posted on how the guide effects handling. i will be interested to hear how that works. JIm
