Ran across this on the bay: bit pricey... $19.99 for this one, and $21.99 for Anodized + $3.50 ship
Ima have to try and scrape something like this together for a JL/AW T jet chassis., lower profile so the body can be lowered, bushings, and better aligned with the holes in the chassis.

Interesting piece! That definitely beats the one I saw a year ago or so - it was all machined (no bent tabs) for $49.95! :scared-eek:

I'll agree that its some very nifty craftsmanship, but Im not certain its a better mouse trap.

At a glance, the gear lash is way short between the idler and driven gears. You get this same effect when you convert the AW gear plate to metal T-jet gears, with or without journal inserts. Arm gear and idler are upside down, the relief should be used to trap ot control the sling and redirect it.






With no plate rails where does the oil sling go? Not bounced back towards the journals!

Casual observation? Steel to alloy arrangements are more thirsty and than a steel to nylatron lash up.

Looking at the top picture it seems like the idler gear post needs to be moved a bit aft. If you bought one of these you could press out the idler gear post and enlarge the hole for it. The post would then need to be soldered in place. If I paid that much for it I would rather not have to do that modification. A gear plate of this sort would not not be legal for Fray/T-Jet SS type racing of course and my question is what does this actually get you in terms of performance? I am not convinced that the bearings work better than the plastic used for a regular gear plate, providing that the holes in the gear plate are the right size. It is nice to be able to lower certain bodies, however you could simply sand down a regular plastic gear plate to do that.

Them will be for next years proxy race. T-jet super class.

It might have been interesting to make one out of Delrin or some other "stiff" plastic. (Depending what tools that person has available). I appreciate the work and effort and do not want to be seen as second guessing anyone.
