Astro-V made by Classic Industries 1:24 scale and purchased in 1965 at the Annapolis Slot Car Center.
I ran it until last winter when I burned up the motor. 47 years ain't bad.
What do you have in your closet?

I have same cars as Olskoolslotz, except they are 1/24, and someone got carried away with the glue, but still vintage cars. :)

Well, of what I bought new and original, the Eldon figure 8 with two Ferrari 250 Testa Rossas which I
purchased from a Western Auto store about 1960. The power supply and controllers are long gone but
I have the cars and track. I have my original Manta Ray, which was the first ready-to-run commercial track
car I ever bought. Before that I mostly scratch built my cars or used chassis kits that were available at the
time. The oldest of the kit chassis would be the Gar-Vic chassis which had a front and rear section held
together with threaded rod. This method allowed infinite adjustment to fit any wheelbase. I made a fiberglass
body for it from a mold I made off a die cast push toy of a Maserati birdcage. It ran a Bonner motor. I still have
it, along with all the piano wire chassis I made back then. I also kept all the brass sheet "pan" cars I built. I
have been restoring these as I get time.

I have an original Cox Cheetah, not sure the year( guessing somewhere in mid 60"s) I picked up from a friend on the board. I also have a Triang/Scalextric Porsche 550 that has to be that old or older.

The Ferrari Testa Rosa that came in a Strombecker set I got for Christmas in 1963 still makes laps.

My oldest car is a Strombecker clamshell Cobra coupe. I have the clamshell GT-40 as well, though that is awaiting restoration.
Those are not the original cars of my collection though...that started with my father's collection including the Marx 1/24 set (Chapparal and Ferrari 250 in 1/24), the MPC Dynocharger (Lancia-Ferrari), the Monogram Ferraris (250 GTO and 330 PLM), an original 1/32 Cox Lil Cucaracha, and several others. My own car in that collection is a Strombecker Porsche Carrera 6. Yes, I still have them. Most of them still run.
And yeah.....the "new" cars in my collection are still old, mostly from the 90s and early 00s....

My oldest slot car is a 1/24th scale flexi with a wedge Porsche body. I used it back in the 90's at a raceway in Sanford, Fl.
