Resin body prep prior to paint?

Hi Guys!

Question?

I have a couple of David's(shtgundrg) resin body coupes and was wondering how you guys prep the body prior to paint?

I'm asking so I don't screw them up!

I'm not sure if they still have mold release or not on them so how do you clean the bodies prior to applying primer or paint?

Any help is always greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

Wayne, take a look at my "how to build a resin kit" in scratch building. That should help!

You will get longer mold life with an agent. Not sure how many pulls you have been getting.

I use Ultra 4 Paintable Spray Silicone Release Agent ULTRA4 I get it at Glenmarc under their Vagabond Resins section. I've used it for over 10 years and get on average 50 and as much as 90 pulls from a mold.

One more tip: make sure the master is absolutely smooth. I usually polish mine out with Novus or another type of polish. It keeps small fissures from being formed in the rubber which tend to hang on to the body more. Those will deteriorate quickly (8-15 pulls) and will start chunking pretty bad and make it hard to get the body out of the mold.
