SRC Alfa....Impressions

I always like seeing a new Slot Car Company. SRC is particularly interesting because of the connection to the beginning Fly.
Thought this might be of interest.

In Brief:ALFA ROMEO 33TT12 WATKINS GLENN 1975 BELL/PESCAROL

Great detail and good looking model, sharp tampos, best driver detail I have seen.
Runs out of the box better then other Fly's I have.
Solid front axle, good gear mesh, metal pinion, very light body and the best stock tires yet. (on my track...painted Carrera)
(needs Super Tires...they pick up about .5/sec. for any car on my track.)
Pulled the spring out of the guide, now the front tires touch the track.
Wheels needed very little truing and I have no Idea how to make the chassis float without destroying the interior.
Car is turning laps around 12.2 sec. (avg. lap on my track is about 12 sec.)
I'll buy more SRC Cars.

If it runs anything like my GB track Chevron B19 it ought to be pretty speedy. Same company with one of it's many names. It looks like they are about the same size. Now about the price.

Great report, thanks for posting. :)

There are a few pictures of this SRC car floating around, and for some reason, they look very 'plasticky' in those pictures. I have the car, and it doesn't look plasticky at all. If it were a Fly car you might say "hey, that's some of Fly's nicest work", and that's saying something. When I took the car out of the box, it looked right at home with the LMM cars, actually.

ElSecundo, your right...it does look rather "plasticky" in pics, but not at all in real life.

Tried another pic to see if it would look better. A little better, but not quite there yet.

Hey, thanks for taking another shot of the car, that does help. It's probably a lighting thing that makes the car look a little translucent, like Ninco's yellow cars often do.

The other thing that doesn't translate well in pictures is that tall bodywork above the front tires. The 1:1 car does have those proportions, which are a bit odd looking, but doesn't look odd at all when you get the car in your hands. The front fenders are fully vented (LOTS of open slats, and they look awesome). Some companies would have filled those in. If there's one complaint, and it's a small one, it's that the white tampo might be a little thin. It's not perfect, but it's very, very nice. :)

…so I guess your saying I need to add it to the herd?

It's the Slot-it IMSA 962 or the Alfa this month……

:confusion-shrug:

Decissions…decissions…...

Hmmm, well with the SRC it's a chance for something really new?

Definitely a looker. I may have to get this one, but it's a hard decision with all the new stuff coming out. Usually it's a little slow in the summer, but not this year. :)

After looking at the last picture again....the stance seems wrong, too high in the front maybe ?
