We hate to do this, but...LSR cancelled

Hi, everyone. We hate to do this, but it looks like we’ll be cancelling the LSR this year. Reasons cited for cancellation:
1) Lack of interest
2) Lack of participants
3) Lack of interest
4) Lack of dancing girls (see #1 and #3)

We do apologize to the car builders, as it’s quite an investment in time and parts to get these things ready. We (Bruce and I) wouldn’t mind giving this another try next year, so if you’ve been building a car, don’t send it to the crusher just yet. That car may yet have an opportunity to lose a wheel at 50 mph, bringing the rest of us great joy and laughter when we use the jaws of life to extract bits of your car from the shelving units.

We’ve had wonderful support over the last several years with track building, track tear-down afterwards, and setup and running of the timing system, and we’d really like to thank these guys for the work they’ve done. They’ve put in a lot of long and sweaty hours in the warehouse to make this happen for the last several years. And now that we actually know what we’re doing and have an efficient system down, we’re apparently bored to death with it. :)

Personally, I’d also like to thank Bruce and his dad for both handling the business side of the event, and providing the space for us kids to play for the last few years. Viva las Green Sales!

Well too bad.!

I was not into it myself, but thought it was cool regardless.

Hope it comes back someday.

And yeah, kudos to all of you who put in all that hard work.

Next year for sure. I just couldn't give it any time or attention while looking after my folks this year.

Hate to hear that, just re-painted two cars for this event. Hopefully next year.

Mick, we have Bullitt Speedway available (they've done the 1:24 drag nats), bu the LSR is quite a bit different from drag racing. The track is well over 200 feet long, with a long run-off at the end. The drivers aren't even hitting full throttle by the time they'd run out of drag strip.

Sorry, Brian. I know you and your dad put a lot into this.

Sorry to hear that LSR won't happen this year.
I liked that you and the others would build a high speed car and have fun.
I don't have the know how to put one together so I always looked forward to who got the record and who fell apart at speed.

Heck, I think we all fell apart at speed after lifting off the track, sailing into the stratosphere, and landing with disastrous result amongst the shelving...

We'll be back to fail spectacularly again next year!

I'd say more or the LSR cars have taken flight than not. Even among the stock and modified classes. There are some very interesting downforce inventions that have surfaced. My planned car for last year was a stretched streamliner with two motors, a flipper wing panel up front, and the tallest, skinniest wheels and tires I could find.
