I saw what looked like a good deal on a pair of these on e-bay and my curiosity got the better of me. The two of them shipped came to just under $100. As this vendor is located in my state I had to pay sales tax pushing the price up a bit. I assume the body sits on a sebring chassis and as I have enjoyed my other MRRC cars on this chassis I am hoping they will have comparable performance.

Harry, I was attracted to the car for much the same reason you stated. I had never heard of them before MRRC brought these models out and I was surprised to learn the company was American and based in California. I had assumed it was an English sports car.

BTW that link to MT racing is now a dead end. Does it still exist?

Oh yes one other thing I had already purchased the cars so no need to provide links to stores.

I bought the two (silver and orange) cars when they first came out. They are quite typical of Sebring chassis cars and run well with some good tires once the magnets are pulled. In fact, they are some of the better running MRRC cars on my plastic track. The wide stance and long wheelbase makes for a car that handles better than some of the shorter wheelbase and narrower cars. Not quite as well as the Ferrari 250GTO LM, but darn close.

My pair of Kellisons arrived today and it wasn't long before I had them on my workbench down at the track. Being somewhat impatient I was looking for an alternative method to sleeve the armature shaft and minimize the rear axle sideplay and an idea hit me. I made a puddle of the thicker gap filling CA glue and dipped the end of the shaft vertically into it. I kept it vertical after I removed it from the CA puddle until it dried. It worked as I now have no sideplay to deal with on the axle. If it had been tight I would have sanded a bit off with the motor running at slow speed. There's not much danger of a screw up here as the pinion gear prevents the CA from getting on the motor bushing. After adjusting the angle of the motor to get a better mesh I found I had to grind of some of the underside of the interior. I also put a thin shim between the rear of the chassis and the body mounts allowing me to lower the nose just a bit.

I only had one pair of Paul Gage tires available and it is very noticeable how much they improve the overall handling of a slot car when it's twin still has stock tires. Now I finally have something to race with my MRRC Shelby Cobra.

Good job Bob. It is a really nice car. The recent Cobra is the same as is all the Fords. Just a little tuning and they are fantastic runners here.
