Nice variety tonight

Went over for a little racing tonight at Dixon John's new track.

We started out with the Scalextric Starter series. Not really the "Start" brand, just the "Super resistant" label. We decided to pick a series that was affordable and to see how well we could get them to run on the lumber.

They run fine without me at the throttle :)

Next up is the tried and true SCX Aero NASCARS. Super smooth with PG tires and a little chassis work.

Finally it is NSR vs Slot.it. On our smaller tracks they are pretty evenly matched. Little too much horsepower really, but we manage :)

Fun to really have a wide variety of models on a race night. And we had just as much fun beating and banging the "cheap" Scaley cars as we did the higher end models.

We often race all 3 of the above on our race nights (on wood tracks too). The NSR classics (only one or two slot.it classics in the mix, most of the guys prefer NSR) usually produce super fast races, and often close too.

We all have the super resistant Scalextric cars which are standard apart from urethanes, usually Paul Gage, and they run extremely well. I usually use an orange Porsche 997 which is frequently a winner.

Scalextric Nascars are popular too, again with urethanes, and they look superb and again provide great racing.

The guys I race with are not too keen on sticking to rigid class rules, and there tends to be a "run what you brung" attitude, everyone gets 4 races (one on each lane) and gets to pick the cars used for one race. However, 90% of the time we tend to stick to the same old favourites, the 3 above as well as slot.it group C, Ninco GT, Ninco 4x4s, Fly Trucks, scalextric GT and that's mostly it, with some Ninco classics, or F1 races now and then.

Makes it interesting!
