Hi All,
Our SCX Digital club is starting our annual season next week and I'm the official score keeper.
My question is on the points spread we came up with. The gap between 6th and 1st seems insurmountable to me. I don't want to set the season based on a one or two races. Here's how the scoring is broken out:
Place - Points - Gap to First - Gap to Next
1 - 52
2 - 43 - 9 - 9
3 - 37 - 15 - 6
4 - 31 - 21 - 6
5 - 25 - 27 - 6
6 - 19 - 33 - 6
0 - 15 - 37 - 4 ↠Provisional
We also give bonus points if you qualify 1st or run completely clean race.
Pole 2
Accident Free 5
Any suggestion on what has worked for other in the past?
Our format (in case you're curious):
1. We run 6 "Events" (think of events as race nights).
2. Each event consists of at least 2 (and up to 4) races in each of our 3 series (Nascar, GT, and Trans Am).
3. We qualify once for each series, then we invert the field based on the previous race. For example, we run qualifying for NASCAR and set the field for the first race based on that run. The second race we invert the field from the results of race 1, race 3 we invert the field based on the results from race 2. If we switch series we qualify again.
BTW - I've built a nice (I think) scoring spreadsheet in GoogleDocs to keep track of the scores through out the year for up to 6 racers. I'd be happy to share the file if anyone is interested.
