Or do you lack that option?

Sort of. There is a 1/24th raceway at Daytona and he carries some 1/32 slot cars but very little in the way of parts.

You sure take a lot of surveys don't you? :)
Nothing wrong with that, just noticing a pattern.
My answer is yes and no. My closest store is about 2 hours away that has slot cars. I rarely visit one of them because they have a poor selection and a huge price tag. The other is much better in price and selection, but it is not really close enough to visit often.
So my "local" shop is right here in my easy chair.

Nope. I'm lucky if the local toy shop occasionally has a couple of the V8SCs available at A$15-20 more than RRP.

I have one about 10 miles from me but his prices are very overinflated for the cars he has and nothing is up to date with whats available today. He caters to the RC and model crowd but again the prices are high. I support him when I can for Tamiya paints and products but for slot cars and parts I shop online.

There are four within a 1 + hour drive. The closest caters to 1/24 scale winged cars and both tracks have plenty of glue on their surface. One doesn't carry slot cars but will order them for me which I can do for myself. The other two have plenty of cars and parts but are an hours drive away if there isn't any traffic or traffic collisions. So I do 99% of my buying on-line.

There are still a few places in Connecticut, but most of them are too far away to be convenient. I am not going to drive a couple of hours to buy a car or a handful of parts. Most of the general hobby shops in the state that had slots have really backed off in that area over the last year or so. There is a huge Hobby Lobby under construction in my town, I have no idea what they will carry, I will keep my fingers crossed, but I am not expecting much.

Well,,,,, I use to have one about an hours drive away. It was mostly a 1/24 scale comercail track with a road corse and a drag strip. I was there all most every week end spending money. But the guys wife had a better paying job and got transfered to another location so he sold every thing off and closed it down. Now I race 1/32 scale cars once a month at 2 different clubs about 3 to 4 hours away. Most of the cars and parts I buy on line now, or from one of the club members that buys his stuff from several distributors.

There are a few model train shops in the area, one of which carries Scalextric, Monogram, Carrera, and has access to SCX (whenever SCX is in business!) in 1/32, plus a bunch of HO stuff. If I want a car from one of those manufacturers, I'll get it from them because they're nice guys and I believe in supporting local businesses whenever possible. For other cars, I'll mailorder.

My local hobby shop is a 3hr drive, usually every 2 months a few of our club members make a day out and head down to the shop. We get great treatment , and very fair prices. We always get lunch and dinner outat at favourite spot. If I need something in between roadtrips, a quick call to the store and my stuff is in the mail. For parts that the store dosent carry
SCCC fills the bill, and I love the candies.
