Carrera Ferrari 599XX - Cool

This is a model I would have likely never added to my collection, but thankfully my son Anthony has good taste.

He chose this as a Christmas present. As teenagers go, it has sat around a couple weeks as he has had other things catching his eye lately (you know what I mean)

But the other night we took it out and gave it a run.

Anthony simply chose it because it looked cool. Who am I to argue that? Carrera did a good job on this car and it really has a great finish.

We took it from the case to the track and it ran ok. Of course it needs a little tire and wheel work, but not a lot. Once we did that this car really smoothed out and was a blast.

Not a car everyone will like, but Carrera made a pretty nice ride here. Having inexpensive, yet decent quality toys is what our hobby needs and thankfully Carrera still delivers it.

I might need the red one. This is one of those cars that once you see it in action, you kick yourself for not trying it earlier :)

Those are neat looking cars. I don't have one yet, but that could change after seeing yours. Always been a Ferrari fan from way back, with F-40's being my favs. :)

Harry.

I do not own the Ferrari 599XX - at least not yet.

However I recently purchased one of the Carrera 458s, I did the 'deburr' of the wheels, truing the tires and adding a set of Paul Gage tires on the rear, On our routed track this car runs so smooth and is so much FUN, it's hard to understand how such a super appearing and great running car can be produced for the low price.

After buying the Ferrari 458 and having these results, I added a Cobra, Cheetah and Dodge Charger 500, all from Carrera. Each car has had nothing but "the basics" performed and runs great.

The problem is what to obtain next. Any ideas?

Dave Kennedy's recent announcement about the upcoming new Carrera cars and the German Touing cars might be something to investigate? The Carrera "GO" DTM's are a blast to run on my 1/43rd 4 lane track.

I have 2 and it wasn't for my 2 car rule I would have 4 of them

I did a bit of tuning on mine - sanded all around the edges to create float, trimmed of the tabs on the chassis mount and lowered it about 1 mm - the car is nice to drive not as quiet as my C6R but still plenty quick enough - they are great cars for the money. I am thinking of getting myself a 1/24 one as well

I also have a 458 - but I find mine has very weak brakes compared to my other Carrera cars.

cheers

I like it. Might just add one to my list of cars to get.

Harry, that boy of yours has good taste. These are neat little cars. Well, neat big cars, I guess -- they're not very small. They can run really well, though, and look awesome on the track. Much, much nicer than the SCX version.

My son has the red one with the American flag on the roof and the Italian national colors in stripes from front to rear.

I liked it so much that I got one of my own, a red one. It, like all my other recent Carrera acquisitions is very smooth and driveable on our mdf track.

As a complete newb, I have to say I'm really impressed with the 3 Carrera cars I've purchased (2 Cheetahs, Porsche 917/30) - they are well built, run well without magnets, and they look great.

I realize they aren't the fastest things out there, but for the price, they are great value.
