Those Carrera Corvettes are a bear to tune with their oddball bushings and puny gear sets. I have never gotten the knack for two tone paint jobs. I always get a little bleed through along the edges despite my going over the masking tape to ensure that it is stuck down. That is a great subject that you chose to model and I think the outcome is pretty nice.

Here's some pics of my "Plastic Fantastic". I love the way they made the body in 3 pieces, but that can be taken care of. Note how the chassis has been modified in the rear by moving the bushing towers in so I can put some good meats under it. It does have a 427 so some it needs some tires under it. :)

Lookin' good, Foot. Did you use the screw receiver posts in the rear as a landmark for cutting? It looks like you are just inside of where they were when I compare it to mine. Have you thought about motor and gears yet?

I didn't use the post receiver holes, but that's a good idea. I just cut along the chassis lines on the bottom, thinned the towers from the inside with the flat file, cleaned up the chassis and tacked them in with superglue. I could take them back out if I decide I need more room, which could happen depending on body clearances. I like the way they stepped the chassis on these too. Why all the different levels?? That can be fixed also, where's my file?

Larry! Great to have you back, bud!

Yeah, this one seems to be a bee in everybody's bonnet like the Cobra Daytona was. I know of at least a half dozen of these old Carrera Vettes that have already been hacked and redone. I've still got my cars from that last Vette War. There's a lot more of us now, maybe we should incorporate the last group into the current group and start mailing them to someone's track... Like someone's really big, gorgeous track... hmmmm?

Well, a little setback here...
The headlights are too tall to fit in the pocket I made for them. It wasn't right anyway, so today, I started over on the headlight doors. Tomorrow, I hope to have something to take pictures of, but for tonight, I'm happy not to have screwed it all up!

I know what you mean by setbacks. I'm in the same boat, except it's with the wife being in the hospital. Doesn't leave much time for the little cars.

I've given up on the stock chassis so I'm going with a RevoGram Sebring chassis for a Ferrari which fits very well. I just need to figure out the mounts and I'm good to go. :)

Rob, she's got bunch of things going on. Some form of hepatitis, stomach ulcers, fluid build up in the abdomen, which they pulled out yesterday. All caused by her worrying about everything. So a lot of things will have to change, probably more than she thinks.

She has improved over the last couple of days, she's still weak and may have to go the rehabilitation hospital to get her balance and things back. :)

Uh, let me butt in here a sec. The combination of hepatitis symptoms and fluid buildup in the belly (ascites), sounds like a serious condition, liver or pancreas in real trouble. Get a second opinion, particularly from a doctor with some oncology connection. That's like a red flag waving at you.

Got it all primered, and most of the body work is done, just minor stuff to do. I'm now working on the body mounts which shouldn't be too hard, one post in front, and 2 in the rear. That RevoGram chassis fits these cars very well. A little wheel well grinding and It should be ready for paint. Not sure of what color yet. Pics later it's kinda early. :)
