Newbe from northern Michigan

Been away from slot car racing a long time but just recently got back into it, man have they changed!, have some buddies that talked me back into it, there's about 8 of us running sat. nites.
We race 1;32 Carrea digital cars on a high bank oval track using a 12'x18' board (takes up a lot of our race shop right now) .
Anyway this is our need for speed in the long cold winter months up here. Come spring time we get out the stock cars & go dirt track racing at a few local 3/8 mile tracks.
Just wanted to stop in & say hi as we are sure there will be some questions on upgrades for more track & faster cars. & places to check out, hit races & parts shops etc. We are about 2 hrs. south of the straights of Michigan. This is a great site & have learned a few trick things already on here. Hot Slots sent us by to check it all out.

Yep! we point fingers too & drive 70 mph + in a blinding snow storm without batting a eye lash, we also are called trolls up here because the yoopers (upper pinnsula people) say we live under the bridge... Big thanks for the welcomes! we will be sticking around if we're not out dirt trackn'.

winter driving-- you must get even more practice than we do! :D
trouble around here in the snow are those who think that all-season tires are what they say they are, largely have the skills to match and think that they have priority because it's slippery out.
i used to do the dirt myself, in middle jersey about 45 years ago. good on ya. not much better than that. now i can only race in 1/32 scale (and when nobody's watching on the back roads)...

Hello, I believe you will enjoy your time at HRW. Here in the Frankfort /Elberta area the snow piles still live. Although they may be gone with the warm weather this up coming week. But as you know living here in the great north of Michigan there is always another snow strom brewing over the big lake. As a transplanted Yooper I keep my comments about Trolls and their odd behavior to myself. Regards, John

Sidedraft....good to see another newbe..I'm from Illinois just outside of Chicago..last time I had slotcars was 1962 wow am I old...raced clay oval for about 3 yrs in my younger days ,lol...just built a replica road course from Spain using Carrera 1/24 track w/1/32 cars on 18ft by 8 ft table . this forum has helped alot...hope some of you guys and gals out there can help me navigate this site....please go easy on me I'm very new to this...thanks to all of you

Try googling "Slotstox" and see what you find. You might like it.
