We had a great afternoon and evening on Friday at DeBary Glen even though we didn't even run a formal race. During the afternoon Marty and I ran our various Carrera classic NASCARs on the middle lanes of Marty's MDF track noting how evenly matched all the cars are. Later in the afternoon my friend Rick showed up and the three of us continued the sparring. When there are more than two of us present I switch to one of the outside lanes increasing my experience with the more difficult driving. Ricks cars were having some problems in the corners so Marty and I took a look and showed him how to lower the stance and improve the cornering ability. In the end his cars were right there with mine and Marty's. Later another friend, Jim Smith, arrived with his brand new Third Eye controller so at that point we had all four lanes occupied but still not actually "racing". We helped Jim get his Ford Torino Talladega tuned properly like we had helped Rick and the four of us ran some very exciting laps. Finally the last player of the day arrived, Chuck Eakin, and Marty relinquished his driver station while awaiting the arrival of his ride home.
At first we ran some 10 lap crash-n-burn races with all four drivers using their own cars. Then someone suggested running different cars so I got out my Scaley and Pioneer Trans Ams and we continued running 10 lap crash-n-burn heats swapping cars after each heat. Finally I got out four of my cars with Sebring chassis, Revell Ferrari 250 GTO LM64, 2 MRRC Kellisons and a MRRC Porsche 908. Again we swapped cars after each race and that is how we finished the evening. We didn't even keep track of who won each heat. Everyone left in a good mood as there were no winners or losers.
