The "anodizer" we were working with could not produce consistent shades of a given color from one batch to the next. For some of our customers, this was an issue (which caused us a lot of headaches for us as well...). As a result, we have been trying to find another anodizer who offers the right combination of price and consistency. The search continues....
In the meantime, painting the silver wheels is not difficult and offers the advantage of a much wider range of colors. Start by cleaning the wheels. Next use some old axles to mount the wheels (mount them in the middle) and then insert the axles into some small holes in a scrap piece of wood. The axles make it easy to "flip" the wheels when painting. Apply a coat of metal etching primer (available at most hardware stores and big box stores). Let the primer dry thoroughly and topcoat with 2-3 thin coats of the color of your choice. Quick and easy...
