A week or so ago one of our members reported that Hornby America was having a sale. In the scratch n dent section I found a Slot.It Jaguar XJR9 in the livery of the Castrol #60 car that won the 24 Hours of Daytona for $35. The description stated that one of the wing supports was broken. Not seeing that as a big problem I ordered it. The model came today via UPS and when I opened the package I immediately noticed that the clear case had been crushed at one end and further inspection revealed the broken support. This Jaguar like my previous purchases came with a spare wing that, while it didn't have the markings, was undamaged. The spare wings are made less accurately regarding the uprights but much more durable. I removed the supports from the original wing and then cut the spare wing on either side of the uprights. Then I glued the original wing to the sturdier uprights. Now the car looks as good as if it had never been damaged. I don't keep very many of the clear cases so I think I got a pretty good deal for my money.
