Thought I would give a Porsche a try so I started off with a chassis.


But I soondiscovered that I'll need a body for the chassis.


So I guess when I order some supplies from SCC, I'll be able to find a Porsche body.

Is that hat an independent spring front and rear suspension?

Suspension is solid with the only flex in the side mounts. I just had to add the detail of the suspension for GP'S.

Got the chassis printed out but it needs a little more front end work.


The back end went together just fine.


Slotit Gears with drill rod axle and parma bearings.
Front axles are stainless Steel rivets.
Power by a Rabbit, 18k version.
Made the chassis with an 87" wheelbase or just 1.718996". Took some searching to find the wheelbase for the 911.

Got my wheels and tires for this beast and threw them on along with the flag.

CB design wheels with PG tires. Fronts are 15x7 with 20084 tires and the rears are 15x8 with 20105. Flag is a Slotit. Hope these fit under the body. If all goes well, I'll be able to trim the rear axles.

Well, its back to the CAD program. The wheelbase is OK but the wheel width needs a little tweaking to fit in the MRRC body.




And once the wheel width is reduced I should be able to get the body lower. Then it will be time to figure out the interior fit up.

Got a coat of Red laid down. Golly Gosh Darn I was supposed to paint the other model Green. Oh Well, its to late now.
Anyway after rubbing on the first coat I applied another coat.

Funny thing is that I took my Laser Thermometer outside and shot the car and it registered 114.5 degrees F. Does that mean it has a baked on finish? The pavement was a cool 140 while the plastic bench the car was setting on was 125. Anyway, now on to the detailing.

Its been a little slow, I like the way it sits now but hopefully that doesn't change after the windshield is installed.


I had to forget about the standard interior that came with the kit and used a credit card in its place. Instead of chopping off the driver, I trimmed out a hole in the card and then put the driver up through the holes. I'll show more detail later.

Finally finished the interior off. Instead of cutting the driver off, I just cut some holes in the card and sent him through from the bottom. Got him glued in place and stuck the assembly into the body.

Lucky for me, I then extruded out some string for the body mounts so that my #2 screws would have something to grab.

Then it was off to the track.

Darn, it was a little light in the front so I need to add some pans to hold weight in front of the flag. Since I'll be redoing that I might as well give the flag a little more room to swing so it will hang the rear out more without jumping the slots. Oh well, another lesson learned with 3d printing.

I am always fascinated by your 3D builds - your Corvair being so cool! Nice work on this little Porsche!

Very nice to see what can be done on a 3 D PRINTER. Slot cars seem like a natural fit for projects on home machines
