Just popped my first Lola T160 slosh cast body from the mold.

Body turned out well.

Eyeballing a Slot It HRS rtr sidewinder chassis kit on hand and the wheels and guide just fit under the body.

Will be run in our GVSCC Can Am class. Too late for the HRW Can Am proxy.

Looks really nice! I think the HRS2 SW chassis will give you a very nice performing car.

another option could be the Slotit Alfa or ferrari 312 chassis...if WB specs suit.

Want to use fat Fly March 716 urethane tires out back, so the rtr chassis are too wide.

Going to do a variation of my small car adjustable wheelbase brass chassis with a Devised Designs super slim FF050 motor pod.

Image

Trimmed body's come in at 11g and not much larger than my Toyota S800 Spyder. Looking at a total target weight of 85g - 90g.

Stay tuned.

Chassis brass measured and cut for solder assembly.

Image

main rails - 3/32" square
front axle support - 3/32" square
front axle tube - 1/8" square
front axle assembly sliders - 1/16" square
guide tongue, front and rear rail braces - .064 strip
guide tube - 5/32" round

Soldered, cleaned and sanded.

Going to use .064 strip for sidepans.

Securing motor pod and drivetrain are next.

Chassis's almost done with side pans to come.

Image

Mock fitted the body and shooting for this low stance.

Have to tuck the rear wheels/tires in a bit.

Should have the body mounted tomorrow.

Got the body mounted with the low stance I was going for. Wheels/tires tucked in nicely without any body rub.

Completed chassis with side pans just fit within the body allowing unhindered body float. Total weight is presently 86g, just within my target of 85g - 90g.

Image

Quite happy with the outcome. Runs well on my test track but Luf's Targa Burnaby is the test.

Cosmetics to follow.

Motor's a Scalextric Sport 20K red can, my preferred power plant for small car chassis builds.

Image

The rest of the components are my usual.

motor pod - Devised Designs FF050 super slim
pinion gear - Slot It 9t
crown gear - SCX Pro 27t
front wheels/tires - Slot It Ferrari 312
rear wheels/tires - Slot It F1/Fly March urethanes
guide - Scale Auto universal
other - Slot It silicone wire, Scalextric Sport 2mm screws

Going with a red finish so pink primer's been applied.

Track testing at Luf's Targa Burnaby went well. Got a best lap of 7.405 at 10.5 volts, a very good one and could do 7.5s consistently. Will be competitive with the Slot Its.
