I thought the newer ones you could disable AWD, Audi1? Or am I just being silly?

No , I think you are Right Mike.
The 4wd can be disabled.
I havent looked at my original to see if it can be converted to sidewinder though.

It is only a belt that drives the front wheels so unless I am missing what you are asking you can just remove the belt.

I just realized gang that the question was about converting from angle winder. I read AW as all wheel drive. (oops).
It is good to know it's only a belt if you wanted to run rear wheels only.
