I wanted to pass along a tip for setting up Quick Slicks. This past Wednesday was the first official ”coming out party” for the tire in our club racing where it ran well for me, finishing second in our sports car class by just 6 inches. Similar to other silicone tires where gluing and truing is performed, it takes a little work to get this tire to run to its optimum performance. What I found is even though there is a rounded sidewall, it’s important to continue to round the shoulder of the tire. I also go as far as adding another bead of glue on the outside of the rim next to the rounded sidewall to make sure the sidewall does not come unglued.

For the benefit of one of our competitors who evidently read Smokeio's post and then decided to put his own twist on things, here's a little Tire Setup 101 tip that is commonly used by actual builders and racers. Note this tip applies to ANY brand of tires (including theirs) which is what Smokeio pointed out in his original post ("Similar to other silicone tires...").

If you do glue/true your tires (not everybody does), the area where the glue is most prone to fail is along the inner/outer "beads" of the tire. Again, this has NOTHING to do with the brand of tires you use whether ours or the other guys. Note that 1:32 tires don't have actual beads like a 1:1 tire but this is area we are talking about. The failure can be due to any number of factors - the glue used, how well it was applied, and the lateral loads the tire is exposed to during actual racing to name just a few. To strengthen the glue bond in this area, many of the top builders/racers (such as the teams competing in the Michigan 24 Hour Endurance race and numerous proxy racers) will apply some additional glue. This helps prevent the tire from breaking away from the wheel and helps minimize/eliminate unwanted tire "hop". It also has the added benefit of stiffening the sidewall.

Going forward, we'll do our best to set the record straight and share tire-related tips based on our actual car setup and tuning experience. Most of these tips will apply to any brand of tire you decide to use.

Did you run this tire on your skid pad, I am thinking the hudy wouldn't provide this smooth of a tire...

It would be great to have a detailed tuning article on how this is accomplished. Coming from advanced racers as yourselves, it would be a excellent reference.
