I was working on a couple of cars for the CanAm race today and I started thinking about the upcoming Ford-Ferrari Wars Proxy. I think it's going to be a great one, because almost everyone associates with either Ferrari or Ford, or both. But, there's something missing, too. Even though Ferrari is probably the name that most people would throw back at you if you asked them about sports racing cars, the marque that has had the greatest influence on both GT and Prototype racing is, clearly, Porsche. And that's what's missing - Porsche.

So, once we get through the multiple proxies that are scheduled to start between now and Labor Day, how about considering a new one - Porsche Wars

The Porsche of your choice; probably split into two groups: 1. GT so that we can get the 911s and all of their variants in, and 2. Prototype, for the WEC type endurance racers; from the 904 to the 919 (who knows, someone may actually come out with a 919.........someday, soon)

We wouldn't have cars due until the early Fall, so that everyone can get a nice Summer breather from all the building that's going on now.

What do you think - interested or not?

I had an idea for a Porsche 356 proxy that you could use either speedster or coupe, with two classes, stock and mod. The mod could have wide flares and unlimited power. I expect, however, there may be more interest in a full out Porsche proxy.

You can probably guess I'm in. (See screen name) I'm building my first 356 now. Pick the class I probably have a Porsche near ready to go or needing a mild rebuild and then ready. I'm dying to run my racer 911s and a 956KH that has been sitting for a Year waiting on a Slot It Shoot Out. We may need a Classic class as I don't see the 904s 356 or 911s or 914s running with K2s, Prototypes or Group C cars

I'll be in, and may have a new track aside from the Lake on the Mountain track too.

I think that the idea of featuring Porsche; GT and Prototype, would make an interesting proxy. But, I also had another thought............

We could make it a pairs race; your favorite Porsche: GT or Prototype, and the car that you remember that competed against it; sort of a "race from memory" type of event. You get to relive one of your favorite rivalries in the Porsche racing world and, at the same time you get to compete against everyone else's cars. Certainly not a fully-hatched idea yet, but I'm thinking more about it.
