The Vintage NASCAR Fun Run cars have arrived here in Ohio and I am currently in the process of unpacking, checking out and snapping pictures! VERY impressive collection!
:text-bravo:

If all goes well, I will be running at least the qualifying on the 144' road course this Wednesday (still working out logistics with fellow forum members APalmer and Slot Therapist) - can hardly wait!

Pictures of the cars as they arrived to follow! :D

Due to everyone's availability, the plan is to finish prepping the cars tonight and then do the qualifying tomorrow. :D

In going through taking pictures of the field, all I can say is WOW!!! These are some great looking cars!
I can hardly wait to see how they do stretching their legs on the 144' road course tomorrow! :D

I hope you are planning to run the oval as well. Those old Nascars would look great on it, and my modern Nascar loved it.

Have fun with them.

Keith -
We'd be more than happy to run these great cars on the oval while they are here!
I know it was cool to see the difference in track preference with the HRW NASCAR cars between the two tracks - and I think the same might be shown with the VNFR cars!
What is everyone's thoughts? Run both tracks while they are here?

Now on to the field!
After a brief "happy hour" with the cars yesterday, we knocked out the qualifying portion of the race on the road course!
A big "Kudos" to all the builders!
Putting the cars through their paces in qualifying showed a very capable field of cars with a wide variety of chassis designs / body choices -giving each car a unique personality that makes them all a lot of fun to drive!
:text-bravo:

Following is the results of the qualifying, along with some brief comments from our drivers based on this short run.
For reference, the qualifying was performed on the red and green lanes - with the myself on red lane and Slot Therapist at the controls for green.
After the initial warm up time time (10-20 laps on each car), the tires were cleaned, braids checked and it was qualifying time!
Qualifying was run as 10 laps per lane (running them two at a time) noting the fastest time for each lane with the average being used for ranking purposes.

And here is how the field shook out!

We have our drivers lined up and the racing portion of this is scheduled for next Wednesday!

Run them on both tracks.
I hope you are right about racing better than it qualified. Did the same here. Qualified 8th but finished 3rd. Have fun.

It was definitely a good time this last Wednesday when the VNFR cars took to the 144' road course at Marks Model World!

After a bit of a "happy hour" with the cars, braids were inspected, tires were cleaned and racing commenced!

To say that there was some good racing between the cars would be a bit of an understatement!

Here are some shots from the action!

Racing format was 2 minutes per lane for the first four lanes of the course (red, white, green, orange)
Driving privileges were handled by:
Red lane - myself
White lane - APalmer
Green lane - local racer Mike Dolanski
Orange lane - Slot Therapist

As can be noted in the results below - there were a number of close finishes / cars finishing on the same lap that made for some GOOD racing! Great field of cars guys!
:text-bravo:

Please note - we unfortunately did have one failure that retired one of the cars part way through the racing action (TsgtRet's #2 had a failure of one of the plastic wheels - but after contacting him - repairs have been "approved" and the #2 will be ready for the next race!)

Driving impressions and additional pictures will follow...
Enjoy! :D
