Love the "cover" Rusty!
I am working on mine today as well - currently in the process of truing of tires so that I can take her to the track this Wednesday to get a feel (sans body) of how she drives. :)

That cover was custom made buddy. :lol: Sounds good Todd. Probably be another week before mine turns and burns. Just getting wheelbase set and everything jb welded in place. Slop fixed in the guide. Be about it till the jb sets up. May do a motor break in or two get some rpm readings.

In working at getting my chassis put together today, I am struggling with the dimensions that were posted in the rules. :think:
Wheelbase: 70.95mm / 2.793"
Front Track: 54mm / 2.126"
Rear Track: 58mm / 2/283"

I'm not sure if it just the body I have - but the wheel base that fits the center of my wheel wells is 2.808" (71.323mm). If I go with the limit specified and center either the front or rear tire in the opening - the other is offset toward the center of the car? :|
(I can work with it in massaging the wheel well openings - but wanted to verify first)

I tried to show it as best as I could below with snapping a couple shots with the front wheel nearly centered (it is even a fuzz to the back of the opening even though it looks like it is pushed to the front in the photos due to the angle of the shot):





Am I the only one experiencing this - or ?

Also - in setting the front and rear wheels at the maximum track width allowed in the rules - here is where they end up sitting...
I wanted to verify that this is "correct" before moving forward - as I didn't want to find out later (after cutting axles, etc) that it was supposed to be wider...
To me - this looks notably narrower than the pictures show for wheel lip verse flare lip? (although if the body flares are supposed to be narrowed - maybe it is a moot point? For reference - my body as received measures 2.470" across the rear flares)
Thoughts?

Again - don't have an issue with the dimensions, as I can make them work, but wanted to be "sure" before starting to cut axles, spacers, etc. So a formal confirmaion would be appreciated! :)

None of the above Thompson. I just run them at 4 volts in reverse direction for 20 minutes then 4 volts in forward direction for 30 minutes. Don't know that there really is a right or wrong way of doing it. This is just the way a old slot racer told me how he does it. Now this is for motors with about the same timing in either direction which is what most of the 1/32 stock motors are.

Todd, I can tell ya I will be using all the width of the flares keeping tire from not showing when viewing from above. That's usually the norm.

Thompson, The ones I looked at were all black.

I was going by what was pasted on the third page of the rules thread - which is where those numbers I posted came from - hence the questions. :)

Also on the wheelbase. The 2.793 is a little short for this body. I had mine at that first and it just didn't look right. I moved it out 2.875 looks much better I think.

Everything I have seen of the original cars has black around every window and door gasket. If you really want to get nuts, try surrounding the taillight assemblies with black! My eyes are giving me fits with the simplest detailing because the Bell's Palsy BS makes them tear up when I get close in. I am resolved to do the very best I can under the circumstances and focus on what I can do which is speed. Har! The pirate with the eye patch is still dangerous!

Silicone molds for resin are soft. It stands to reason that there will be a variation in wheel base, track, etc. Simple barometric pressure changes things a bit, right? I'm turning my tires to fit what the body wants.

Todd, I'm chucking the rules right the window. (Sorry JB - jk though..) and making my RSR look right first. It's all about the scale photo op for me! Pretty much because I've never built up a chassis and I'm sure I'll be yankin on the rule Wizards chain for stretching something too. I'm going to make my RSR have the right stance, wheel spacing and look then worry about making it go. :lol:
