Mod wars overview

Thought i would take a few and give some impressions of the cars in the Mod Wars battle. here is a shot of the contestants.Image
11 cars in total, all scratch built, all brass chassis cars. Spec motor was the H&R Hawk. This shot shows the varied chassis designs used.

Strangebrew's car had the most complex of all the builds

A few shots of the individual cars

cant say they were not run hard! look at that tire dust!ImageImageImageImage
A few minor incidents!

The red rocket! our winner for this round by a good margin. Big Dave's first scratch built car! this thing flies! i had to check it for a magnet the way it stuck to the track! Just kidding, just a darn good handling car.

All of these cars are great. You can tell by the close lap counts and times, that they are all winners.
A couple of them had the behind the axle guide mount, and they took some getting use to. they drove great though, and i was surprised.
Chappy's car was my favorite to drive, it was smooth, and very predictable
Shotgun Daves sedan, beautiful car, I just could not get a handle on this car? it wanted to tip bad in the corners, and i saw no reason why. I had seen it slide on his videos, and if it would have on my track, his lap count would have been much higher. It could be my driving, or my track was just to sticky.
Turbokev's car is another looker. behind the axle guide. very fast, you were either in the slot or out, not much warning there!
HRW, Harry's car, what can i say, the Man just builds great cars. it was another car that was hooking up to good. i had a little trouble keeping it slotted while it was flying in the corners. again, could have been me, as i was pulling out all the stops on these bad boys.
SADCO racing, One of my favorite cars to just look at. The toxic orange paint and the detail level just stood out to me.great build, and i loved the headers on this one!
Btaylor, Another to heavy car. I cant seem to get the weight down enough to be competitive. slides good, fast once its rolling, but to heavy to have any speed right out of the corners. (note to self= go on a diet!)
Rolling thunder, VERY cool sedan! the detail on this one is outstanding, obviously a great runner too.
BigDaves 77. what can i say? this thing is so fast its scary!.Set track records on both outer lanes! My track uses R4's and that is near six foot wide, couple that to a 16' foot length, and you have a rocket at sub three second runs.
Strangebrew. This little car is so cool! the chassis is a work of art. the one thing it needed on my track, was some nose weight. It would lift the front end so hard coming out of the corners, it would often de-slot. very quick, and light.
Noahracing, one of my resin bodies, and a one to be proud of! this was a very smooth car, and i look forward to see how it does on the wood tracks, it will do well i am sure.
Retroracer. For a road course kinda guy, he obviously can build an oval racer too! VERY smooth and predictable, and a sweet looker as well.
all of these were cool as it gets to race, and i thank you all for the opportunity to do so. I especially want to thank all the guy's that used my resin castings, as it made me very proud to see them being built and raced. that is why i make them.
I leave this with my favorite shot of the group. Thanks Guy's!

Yes, well done all.

"Strangebrew's car had the most complex of all the builds" No way :) Who would have guessed that? :)

Thanks Bob for hard work and the report. Stealing photos now.

I'm gonna' have to concentrate less on the modeling & more on the performance. I'm still kinda' new to 1:32 plastic cars.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm tired of the "we must go faster at all costs" proxies which result in fast cars with minimal detail. That's why I loved the concept of this proxy where the engine and gearing constraints pretty much gave everybody an equal shot without constraining chassis design, bodies, etc. I've never seen such a range of chassis designs, all of which seem to work!

Thanks again!
