Bill, what sort of cars are you planning to run on your track? I lived in Framingham at one time. Currently, I run hard body 1/24 scale cars in Weare, NH on a 4-lane routed track. Jalopies & stock cars are two popular classes run there.

I haven't been to the new Modelville yet. I lived in that neighborhood of Ashland from 1969-71 & raced at Modelville when it was on Waverly St. in Framingham until 1975.

If you deslot on the backside of that Purple Mile, it seems like you have to walk a mile in order to get your car. I ran on the first Modelville Hobby Soverign (Purple Mile) 1969-75 when it was in Framingham, MA.

Wow.. I had no idea there was such a large operation still in New England..
I do remember a hobby store with a couple commercial tracks in the lower level many years ago.. but nothing like this.
I think it was near the Ashland/Framingham line..

Kev,

Could this location you mention have been in Marlboro? The Modelville Hobby in Framingham was located in a single story, former A&P supermarket with three tracks. In 1967, I had stopped at a Marlboro raceway. It was located in a multi-story building with two tracks, one of which was huge. On a hill, the raceway was 1/2 story below street level, almost in a cellar. The next time I went to Marlboro looking for it, it was gone.

Can you believe in it's hey-day there were places like this all around!! The was a track in Prov. R.I. that had an 80' straightaway!! There was a large net at the end to catch the cars so they wouldn't go into orbit.
