Pit/pace combination.

I tore down a section of the track. I wanted to try a pace car but had no room to install a second entry/exit point. I am going to try to combine them in to this set up. It will prevent using ghost cars and fuel at the same time as the ghosts will cross in to the fuel area.

The pace car will take the first entry in to the pits and stop, while the racers will hit the second entry. When we need a restart the pace car can pass through the pits on the way to the track.

It also saved the money of buying a second pit lane. I also did not have to worry about setting up the lane switches so the pace car can find its way home without hitting the pit stop.

The fuel sensor is placed at the power section. It acts as a lap counter if set to do so. We have it set up so it counts laps and it works OK.

Here is the new setup looking from the bottom. The yellow tape is to make 2 spots to stop. After hitting the fuel sensor you can stop a little way past it and leave room for someone else. It was supposed to work that way, but usually if someone is in the pits and someone else goes in a crash ensues.

This is the opposite view. If things go as planned the pace car will take the first lane switch and stop, waiting to be needed again. We will have to hit the second pit row entrance. The outer 2 lanes are not powered and are just to place cars that are not racing.

Thursday is race night, so we will see if it goes as planned.
