Slot.it SP2 controller power?

Hello Digital racers,
I have recently started to use a Slot.it SP2 controller for the 6 car SSD system.
Thinking that the standard 'Vampire' power tap that it comes with may drain some of the available power,I set it up with its own 12v 5A transformer.
The controller will not work with the seperate power supply at all.
Has anyone had experience with this?
Can anyone explain why this is ?
As usual I may be missing something! :violence-smack:

I have recieved a reply from Slot.it regarding this question and thought I would pass it on for anyone that may be interested.

Hi Waine
Your solution is OK, but you need to connect together the two ground of the two power supplies ,
so you need to add a wire in order to connect the ground (-) of the new power supply with the ground
of the SSD power supply. ( doing that the system has only one voltage reference)
Please note that looking to the plug of the Scalextric Power supply the inner part is the + and the outside parts is the - (ground).

Let us know if doing that, the system works again

I have a separate power supply for my SCP controllers.
Doing the "vampire" way doesn't really effect cars, though. The controllers take so little power, that it shouldn't be an issue.
But, a 12v power supply should be fine on it's own. The fact that it doesn't work leads me to wonder if there is something wrong with that supply, or if it's outputting AC or something.
