Last week was the first race on a new track, well sort of. The Manure Pile is a modular short oval. There are extra sections to make the straights five feet longer and also sections to make a boomerang shaped bent oval. Here are those configurations.







The new configuration is sort of kidney shaped, I did not have my camera with me, but here is a sketch as best as I can remember it. In any case the track is a blast to race on.

This is an example of an incredibly versatile track. The variations on the basic oval give the resulting layouts a completely different personality when racing. If you're designing an oval, you might want to do something similar. With just a little more work (and space) you can have several different layouts to mix things up and make things more interesting.
