Great review. Another good option for those on tighter budgets. If it works, it works :)

Thanks Dave!

Thanks for review. Have been looking for an iron so I can soon try my hand at building some chassis. Looks like a good one to start with.

For the money, it sounds like an impressive unit. I found a second 6 min. video that was also helpful. I prefer chisel tips for chassis building. I have to check the company website to see what tips they have that'll fit.

Late last night I found a 57 min You Tube video on this particular soldering station. In some areas, it was compared to the similar Hakko 936 model. This video went over the positives & negatives of the Circuit Specialists soldering station in detail. After watching this video, I still think it's positives outweigh the negatives.

Dave, after having had it for a few months & built several cars with the Circuit Specialists soldering station, how well do you still like it? Have you found any advantages to using this particular model, or any short-comings either? Have the variety of soldering tips been helpful to your chassis building? Thanks.

I have one of the Hakko units that are around $100 + or -, and I can say honestly that mine doesn't do anything more than what that one does. In fact, mine doesn't shut itself off, that's another thing.
