well, after hanging around with Dickie, i thought pullers were lawn tractors!
and as for pushers, well, ref: Steppenwolf. or maybe those trucks with the wooden bumpers and the hook on the back, that sometimes bang into your rear push bar so hard on a dirt track, it snaps your darn neck. oh wait. they were called Presses. anything to do with a bench? or a full court?
sorry about that, Chief.
but seriously, though, i've accumulated at least a dozen Gear puller/pushers over the years. the best one is the hudy because of the aformentioned alignment, if it fits where you want it to and i haven't ever bent a shaft with it or slid an arm in the can.
but i do have a set from the 60's that looks just like those black metal hoodie ones at the top of the post. i use them a lot because they're easy to use, always ready (no reconfiguring) and they just plain work, although sometimes the pin in the puller is a little tight and it's hard to fix.
with a couple exceptions, the others are mostly junk, and like Marty says, they're not serious tools and usually do as much damage as good.
so i guess i''d recommend the separate tools first and then the high-maintenance italian actress when you can afford her.
