Ultralight Track Table

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Sat Dec 08, 2012 1:15 pm

Now here is my buddy Tom doing what he does best: Adapt, overcome, & improvise.

Image

He lives on a 3rd floor apartment. He just can't tote a lot of heavy lumber that far being on his own, so he made a slot car table out of 1/2" PVC pipe!

Topped with foam core board, it is very light. Not incredibly sturdy, but it works for him.

Hehehe, that is using the old noggin Tom! :banana-rock:

Some 1/4" plywood would work good too!

Having had the pleasure of meeting The Professor, I'm not shocked at all, and this kind of smart thinking is exactly why he is revered. Need a new controller? Get a glue gun and give it to him. Need a lightweight apartment track? See Tom. Genius, that man is!

Lightest set up so far,I'd guess, and very ingenious.

I'm still experimenting.

I think this principle is worth pursuing because many potential slot racers, particularly in Europe, simply don't have the space for a permanent layout - and something that can be easily carried in and out is just what they need.
