Model Construction Materials

I want to create better banking in corners for my SSD track. This banking would be wide enough to include the additional side pieces of the track. My first thoughts was to use construction foam.
Anyone have any recommendations on what to build the bank with and what materials?
If I use foam, where do you guys order from or get it?
Seems expensive...

You could always use 3mm MDF for track support. Or if you want something more solid that you can carve to shape, it's very hard to go past white bead expanded polystyrene packaging picked up for free from your local whitegoods merchant.

Well, for supporting plastic track you want something sturdy that the track can be fastened to. MDF is a great suggestion, or a lesser expensive option would be OSB. (Chipboard).

Just thinking that there is more flex and twist available in MDF seeing as we're talking about banking.

I think I'd go with Embs on this one, I've seen the corkscrew actually made from mdf with undercuts and a little frame work, so it definitely has the flex factor, and yet it is not springy.
