Lap timing, race management..

Need to figure out what to do about lap timing and race management now that I'm starting to braid..

I went to the trakmate site to check out software as that is what I've used in the past.. and read that
if I do dead strip timing, it only works in one direction? I can't reverse the layout.. Which I want to be able to do.

I really don't want an overhead light bridge and LED sennsors.. I think dead strips are more reliable.. not that I've
ever had them on one of my tracks, but other tracks I've raced at with dead strips always work flawlessly with
no super bright light bridge being a distraction..

Is it possible to have 2 dead strip locations and toggle back and forth depending on which direction I'm running the track?


Any solutions you guys might have would be appreciated.. and software / interface suggestions as well.. I've always used
TrakMate in the past and thats what most use up here.. but I'm open if it does the same things TM does..

Hello Kev,

TrackMate offers a bi-directional dead strip interface cable with switches that allow the dead strip to work in both directions. Give Dickie a shout - he may have one at the store.

I bought a bi-directional dead strip cable from Trackmate, as I already had the interface board. Not installed yet but that's not on the list of worries I have about the project.

Race Coordinator seems like a nice piece of software for the Trackmate interface. I always liked the big and bold timing screen that Trackmate offers but Race Coordinator seems to be good also. I'll certainly give it a try. But as far as timing hardware goes, I think Trackmate has it covered.
