Hi my name is Glenn and have been into the hobby for 2 years now and thought it was time I gave track building a try. This is a short story from start to finish on how it went.
First my to good friends Bob and Peter came over and we sat in front of a computer and stared at a blank 5x12 sheet of MDF. Peter having multiple engineering degrees and a master on CAD, we left that to him and after 2 nights we came up with the final drawing.



Next it was off to the CNC to get cut



I have a video of the track being cut, if I can figure out how to compress it, I will post it on here. It took a total of 8 minutes start to finish to cut the track.
Then back home it went where my crew joined me once again. Bob cut out the ends while I sanded the surface and cleaned the slots out with a vacuum and prepped it for paint By then it was getting late but we were full of steam so we ran down and got the paint and stayed on it until it was all painted.

The next day I got the track moved into the room and we started to lay the double faced tape and SLOT CAR CORNER braid down.

The next night we did the wiring - I purchased all the panels and wiring kit from SLOT CAR CORNER along with a dead strip Track mate system. Being very fortunate, Steve from SLOT CAR CORNER lives only 25 min away and was nice enough to come down and lend a hand. Let me add this was no easy job. I am pretty good with wiring and my buddy who is an electrician was also there to help - took us, non stop, close to 3 hours to complete. In the end I was very happy to hear Steve say it was one of the neatest jobs he has ever seen :)

Yes I put the skid pad in to break in cars and also on race nights if someone has a problem with there car and we already strated the races they can use it. I have it powered buy my Tec2 MRC HO controller.

The last leg was first race night witch went off very smooth and was happy with the feed back I got from the crew Steve even found the time to come down and race witch was a treat!


I will add to the post as I get my boarders done and start to landscape but for now thats all!

That is a slick idea, incorporating a skid pad into the center of the large turn!
