Braiding has started.. I'm doing the 2 sections that drop in to change between oval and road course first as they have a special challenge.

I'm braiding each section of the layout individually and dropping the braid down through the track at every point lanes meet from section to section.
Thats fine for most of the track..drill a hole down through the support beam under the joint, and drop the braid down to connect with
a wire nut.. but where the drop in section is I can't to that. I had to run the braid over the edge and back underneath so it can be wired
to a molex type plug for quick and easy changeovers.

I used a round over bit in my router to make some channels on the backside for each braid to sit in.. seems like its going to work fine.

I'm cutting all the braid to length for each section and cleaning the oil residue off with mineral sprits.

Just prior to putting it in the gain, I'm peeling the tape backing and heating the exposed sticky part with a heat gun. The heat
is making it super sticky and the braid is laying perfectly as I go along.. There are a few steps beyond what you would do with
copper tape, but the end result is so worth the extra time.

One section done, the next one is taped.. Hopefully I'll have a substantial amount done by tonight.

Kev - I think your braid method on the removable section should work well. Looking good!

Been a slow week on the track.. Work and home life both busy.

I did find a local printer who made me a background image 30" by 18 feet from a hi res panorama scene I found online.
I put that up tonight and braided another section of the track.. One more to go and I can start assembling the track and
connecting the braid drops..

For those of you who saw my thread about my Dad making stuff out of matchsticks.. He was up Saturday and he is
completely on board to make me a good size pit area building and starters stand.. I'm sending him the basic dimensions
and he's going to make me something to fit where I need it.. pretty excited about that.

Here's the background~

Kev the track is looking great. That background is awesome. Nice job on the video. Getting ready to make some dust here myself. Going with braid also but think I'm going to use the pre-taped stuff.

OK.. 2 sections are completely braided, installed, screwed in to final resting place etc..

That green stuff is leftover hardwood floor underlayment I had saved years ago for 'something'.. now I know what for LOL.
I cut it in to strips and I'm using it between the 2x3's and the mdf.. will quiet the track down and give a slightly squishy
surface that will allow for a small amount of adjustment in height where two parts meet each other..

and as you might have seen in that picture.. I've already broken out the 9V battery

So far so good~!
