Does anyone have a recommended source for sandpaper. I see people talking about using 1000, 2000, or 4000 grit and locally (Lowe's, Home Depot), I'm lucky if I see anyting greater than 600. Thoughts?
Thanks again.

Your best bet is an automotive supply place. My Napa, Kragen, etc. all carry at least 1500. I rarely go higher than that but have used 3000 on occasion.

Matt not sure what you need it for but if you are getting it for your new tire truer then drop a zero off the numbers.

Thanks, Mike. I'm actually looking for sandpaper to use when painting bodies. But thanks for the tip on the grit for the tire truer as well. Need to get that going as well if my new Scaleauto 1:24 BMW Z4 is going to see any action at the track. I picked up that 'yu-gi-oh' livery at Clover Leaf over the holidays.

for sanding between color shots I use a wore out piece of 2000, its so dull its like using a tissue to sand with
1500-2000 is best to sand between color coats
for sand paper for tire truers I start with 220 then finish with 600
some guys use 1000 and the tires look great
for sillies you might try sanding screen for sanding dry wall joint compound
