G'day Guys,
Our latest project car is complete, its a Revell Ford Thunderbird, out of box build on a WRP C06 chassis/tube steel. Motor is a Plafit Fox II, Cox 48 pitch Crown gear, Pro-Track wheels (1/8th axle).
The spec for this model is for Nomad Raceway Pro-Stock class, one of the slower classes at our club..... it is still a well contested class of racing and competition is tight :)
This build was a team effort, many thanks to my wife for another great paint job, I even managed to build a chassis from scratch on this one (as opposed to using a Parma Edge chassis)......

Hey thanks Guys!
We are both really enjoying this scratch building/drag racing thing (heck, I'm even getting a few wins up at club which is a bit of fun as well!)....
Our next projects that we have underway are the "Christine" Pro-Mod (Revell kit) and a 1983 Toyota Corolla GT 1600 (on steroids!).....
Dave I'll put some pictures up of the chassis on the next one. Sadly my soldering is a bit crappy (understatement) and I'm a little shy of my chassis work, the chassis work well, but I need more practice at it I suppose.
One day I'll be able to solder as well as Harry did on that Maverick proxy car of his :)

Hey Guys,
....Should be "safe" in this part of the forum from my ever present "fan club".... :P
Thank you for the kind words guys, we really appreciate it :)
Its a really weird situation, my wife isn't interested in running the slot cars and only minimally interested in "cars" in general, but she is a very "artsy/craftsy" type of woman.
When I started buying painting gear a few months back my wife Chrissy started to take an interest in the model car scene. End result she is doing pretty well for a beginner and learning as she goes. Its good for me, because I suck at painting/detailing, always have, I don't have the knack or the patience for it.
My thing is setting up a model, working out the gearing, tuning, all of that, I really enjoy that side of the hobby, always have, would be quite content to just build cars really, I like watching them go round the track as well, its my bit of escapism....
The drag cars have been great for me, I am part of a pretty reasonably sized club in my hometown, the people at club are great, its a pretty social affair and they are car nuts like me. Its just really good fun.
I have struggled in the chassis building side of things, soldering chassis is new to me, it is a bit of an art form in itself and the bike accident I had a few months back has left me with the two bottom fingers on each hand permanently numb, so fine motor skill stuff can be a bit "challenging" at times :)
David, I've had a fair bit of time lately on my hands getting back on track after the accident, I get time to tune and build the drag cars this way. Chrissy does her painting and detailing on weekends and in the evening watching TV, I'm pretty much the same with the tuning/building side of things.
My interest in it is a passion for US cars that I've had since I can remember, my "lotto win" car would be something from Detroit, not Europe, and drag racing is something I've been around since I was a youngster.
We have a couple of projects on the go at the moment, a 1958 "Christine" Plymouth Fury Pro-Mod drag car, which will be built specifically for Nomad Raceway Pro-Mod (revised) rules.
The other project we started last night is a 1983 Toyota Corolla GT 1600 four door, its going to run in Nomad Sportsman class. Its going to be our first Japanese based model, should look ok from what we saw last night!!!
Thanks for taking an interest guys, I am enjoying this side of the hobby at the moment, its different and fun, plus there are a heck of a lot of people interested in it from many walks of life, new blood for our hobby :)

Geez Rob, that's an awesome job, I think that missus of yours might be a keeper.
Keep those builds coming along mate. Sounds like great therapy after the prang.
But I'm a little suspicious at the thought of you "turning Japanese" on your builds ;).
(Says the guy who leaves behind a long line of Aussie Muscle, to drive a Mitsubishi)
I'm Still looking for the right Camaro to come along tho'. Thinking that the bike might be on short time, especially after hearing about your mishap.
