I was trying to work out a little while ago when it was that I actually stripped this car intending to do a quick repaint on it. It's got to be heading on 2 years ago at least. But seeing as SCX sort of announced they were doing a Banque Baring Brothers Sturdza livery on their Morgan Aero8 I figured I should probably make an effort to get mine finished.

First up, they aren't doing the same car as I chose. Also, my version really isn't a pure livery. More a tribute as I've used bits that I like from several of the BBBS Morgans.

I thought hard about attempting some remodelling on the car, but I decided against it in the long run. Just as well, as it would've probably taken me another 2 years to get it done. I added some mesh in appropriate places, just to try it out. I also added some strengthening to the wing struts with some split brass rube as His Lordship is very hard on his Mog wings.

I mis calculated the door width when ordering the side decals.





I know it's not a car to everyone's taste. But how could you not love this view?

I find things like that all the time after taking a photo...hopefully a q-tip and some mild chemical will remove it

If it's just on the surface, which I think it should be, I should be able to scrape it off with a sharp scalpel blade.

You're right, who wouldn't love it. Very nicely done and an excellent colour.

Nice car. No one will ever see that smidge of paint at race speeds. I would just drive it.

Yeah, I like it, too, and I, too, have been thinking about painting one of these for a long time, no decision yet.

Yes, what is the colour. In the 50's it was Willow Green. I remember looking at an MGA with my Dad and that was the colour. I think Jag revived it in the 80's on their XJ series.

That's exactly what I was wondering. Especially since I tried and tried to find it here and never could get it just right. Its odd, I did find David Piper's Modena Green, a Ford color, but the pre-British Leyland colors are tough to find over here, except as copies made here, which suck.

I used a Tamiya Field Grey on it, #78. Flat finish spray can. It's not a perfect match for the real thing, but it's close.

I needed another quick livery job for a proxy car and decided to do the same livery on a Lancer EVO. Ran out of paint and had to get more. Chose the wrong one. Also Field Grey, #65. It is slightly greener and slightly darker so would probably do well for the gold top BBBS livery that SCX are doing.

Car looks glorious.

I'd forget the smudge - if anyone asks: It must have hit a dung beetle at speed.

All adds to the realism.

So, you shot clear over the flat paint?

Yes, gloss clear over the flat. I've discovered that the flat paint is VERY forgiving. I'm considering using flat all the time. Not the fuss and worry about getting the perfect finish. Of course one still has to deal with that when it comes to the clear coat, but I like the way the flat handles. Even with a brush for detailing rather than a spray, it's different. No drag in it.
